In den Tannheimer Bergen finden sich viele gute nordseitige Skitouren. Die Tour auf den Ponten ist zurecht die meistbegangene. Moderate Hänge erheben sich über den kleinen Schattwalder Skigebiet und türmen sich auf zu majestätisch anmutenden Felsenbergen. Zwischen Bschießer und Ponten zieht sich das angenehme Pontental hinauf bis zum Pontensattel. Hier herrschen einige Tage nach dem letzten Schneefall oft pistenähnliche Bedingungen - ganz ohne Lift und weit über den präparierten Pisten am Stuibenlift.
