Der Mary Schäffer Loop am Maligne Lake ist gut gepflegt, zum Teil auch befestigt und bis auf einige wenige matschige Stellen nahe am Ufer, leicht zu begehen. Das ist von Vorteil, denn so können wir uns bedenkenlos der atemberaubenden Szenerie rechts und links des Weges widmen. Auf der einen Seite das glasklare Wasser des bis zu 100 m tiefen Sees, auf der anderen Seite duftende Kiefern- und Fichtenwälder, umrahmt von den knapp 3000 m hohen Gipfeln der Endless Chain Ridge im Hintergrund.
