Wir besteigen die Höfats, die südlich von Oberstdorf zwischen dem Oytal und dem Dietersbachtal liegt. Der Grasberg gilt als Wahrzeichen der Allgäuer Alpen und ist außerdem für seine ausgeprägte alpine Pflanzenwelt bekannt. Unser Weg führt durch ein langgezogenes Flusstal und über schmal gewundene Pfade hinauf zu den vier nahezu gleich hohen Gipfeln der Höfats, die dem Berg sein charakteristisches Aussehen verleihen. Sie teilen sich in zwei Gipfelpaare auf, die voneinander durch tiefe Scharten getrennt sind. Steile Gras- und Schrofenhänge machen die Tour sehr anspruchsvoll, zumal Sicherungen oft gar nicht oder nur unzureichend vorhanden sind. Deswegen ist die Tour ausschließlich erfahrenen Bergsteigern vorbehalten.
